eFlash - Maritime crisis rages on!

3 February 2022

FIATA HQ meeting coming soon

In the e-flash on 20 January, National Associations were invited to mark in their agendas the dates of the 2022 FIATA HQ Meeting: 17 to 20 May 2022.

Soon, Association Members will be able to attend the first physical meeting since the FIATA World Congress in 2019. The Presidency very much looks forward to meeting as many Association Members as possible face-to-face, but as travel restrictions are still in place in many parts of the world, FIATA is planning to organize a Hybrid meeting for that purpose.

Stay tuned for more news to come in the coming weeks!

Maritime Crisis: FIATA needs your feedback!

The ongoing disruptions in the maritime supply chain and their significant economic repercussions are increasingly in the spotlight as World Trade Organisation (WTO) Director General warns of continued bottlenecks in global supply chains, which are expected to have persistent and detrimental impacts on developing countries. Concerns that smaller companies will be pushed out of trading networks because of supply chain friction has led the WTO to convene a meeting of business executives, ministers and trade experts in March to discuss how to ease the persistent blockages.

Meanwhile, container shipping lines are reportedly set for another bumper year of earnings. Analysts predict that key factors driving these hefty profits include persistent ructions on global trade routes and the drip down of higher spot market rates into long-term cargo contracts.

As supply chain tensions come to a head, help FIATA help you. Send your comments and experiences to FIATA's dedicated mailbox: [email protected].

Young Professionals Logistics Award 2022 - Last chance to register!

The deadline to nominate a candidate to the Young Professionals Logistics (YLP) Award 2022 is on 15 February, and so is quickly approaching! On this occasion, FIATA and the TT Club are organizing two online information sessions on Tuesday 8 February 2022 at 09:00 and 16:00 CET for potential candidates to find out more. Of course, FIATA Association Members are more than welcome to join to get better insights on the numerous benefits of the competition for their young prodigies!

We will have the pleasure to welcome previous regional and global winners of the contest who will share their experiences and answer all your questions during both sessions.

As always, FIATA is very grateful to all Association Members for their crucial role in making the competition a great success and counts on them to relay all the details of the information sessions to their potential candidates.

For all the young logistics professionals reading this, you have a unique opportunity to join a great adventure, be it this year or in the future. If you have any questions on the process or are still unsure whether to take the plunge, get in touch with your National Association!

Anyone interested in joining the information sessions or who may have questions about the competition may also contact [email protected].
