Vol 1: FIATA User Handbook On Multimodal Transport Corridors

As global trade increasingly relies on multimodal transport corridors to move goods between Asia and Europe, freight forwarders need a practical way to assess what a given corridor can offer, and where its limits lie. FIATA's new User Handbook on Multimodal Transport Corridors helps freight forwarders navigate this landscape by looking at corridor performance from an operational, day-to-day perspective rather than a policy or infrastructure one.

The Handbook introduces a framework built around three operational dimensions – infrastructure and network capability, corridor service performance, and trade facilitation and regulatory environment – complemented by an assessment of resilience. This first edition applies the framework to the Middle Corridor, also known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), connecting Asia and Europe via Central Asia, the Caspian Sea, the South Caucasus and Türkiye.

Highlights include:
•    A practical corridor assessment methodology developed from a freight forwarder perspective;
•    Analysis of infrastructure, service performance, trade facilitation and resilience considerations;
•    Route-by-route descriptions and maps;
•    Identification of key operational bottlenecks and planning considerations;
•    Overview of applicable conventions, documents and regulatory requirements;
•    A step-by-step operational checklist covering the shipment lifecycle;
•    Further resources and tools for corridor analysis.
