Regional Updates: Highlights from RAMs the upcoming Regional Field Meetings
On 21 August 2025, the FIATA Region Americas (RAMs) Body Meeting was held online, bringing together participants from 11 FIATA Association Members from the region, including newly elected Association Member Presidents. The session provided an important opportunity to discuss regional developments and future priorities.
During the roundtable, Members shared updates on the dynamic evolution of markets across the Americas, agreeing to deepen these discussions in upcoming RAMs sessions. Delegates also expressed strong interest in recent regulatory and operational developments, including updates on FIATA's work at the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the newly published Best Practice Guide on Maritime Contracting, and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Negotiable Cargo Document (NCD) Convention, which establishes a framework for both paper and electronic negotiable transport documents.
A key highlight of the meeting was the nomination of a candidate for the position of FIATA RAMs Chair, to be presented to the FIATA Presidency ahead of the 2025 Electoral General Meeting during the 2025 FIATA World Congress in Hanoi, Vietnam, on 10 October 2025.
Looking ahead, the 2025 FIATA-RAMs Field Meeting has been rescheduled to 3–5 December 2025 in Cartagena, Colombia in conjunction with the Fitac (Federación Colombiana de Agentes Logísticos en Comercio Internacional) International Congress (FIC). The event is expected to bring over 700 participants from across the region to explore key topics such as digital transformation, regulatory alignment, sustainability, and capacity building. FIATA took the opportunity to thank the Associação Nacional das Empresas Transitárias, Agentes de Carga Aérea, Comissárias de Despachos e Operadores Intermodais (ACTC) for the extensive preparatory work carried out for the Field Meeting in Brazil, which will now support the organisation of the rescheduled meeting in Colombia.
Aligned with the work and agenda set in Cartagena, the 2026 FIATA-RAMs Field Meeting will take place in Toronto, Canada, in Q4 2026 and will be held alongside the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) Conference.
