FIATA Celebrates the Conclusion of the 2024-2025 Global Sustainable Supply Chain Competition

Geneva, 19 March 2025 – FIATA marks the successful conclusion of the 2024-2025 edition of the Global Sustainability Supply Chain Student Competition (GSCC), an initiative dedicated to fostering innovation and sustainability in logistics. This year’s competition has once again demonstrated the transformative potential of young talent, bringing fresh perspectives to some of the most pressing challenges in global supply chains.
At the forefront of this success is Team SCOPE, the gold-winning team of this year’s edition, from the University of South Carolina, USA, whose outstanding contribution has set a new benchmark for creativity and problem-solving in the field. Their innovative approach reflects the growing need for sustainability-driven solutions in logistics, reinforcing FIATA’s commitment to shaping a resilient, efficient, and environmentally responsible supply chain. FIATA and GSCC would like to warmly congratulate gold-winning team, Quintan Boyle, James Celli, Allie Place, and Kort Wise.
The GSCC, with the support of FIATA, has grown into a key platform for attracting new minds into the industry, engaging students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds to tackle real-world supply chain and logistics challenges. As the sector faces increasingly complex demands and a growing labour shortage, FIATA recognises the vital role of such initiatives in preparing the next generation of logistics professionals. By fostering collaboration between academia and industry, the competition is helping to bridge the skills gap and ensure the future of freight forwarding remains dynamic, sustainable, and forward-thinking.
FIATA President Mr Turgut Erkeskin emphasised the importance of investing in young professionals, stating:
"The logistics industry is facing a growing talent gap, and FIATA is committed to bridging this by investing in education, training, and opportunities for young professionals. Competitions like this one not only showcase young talent but also help connect students with industry leaders, encouraging fresh perspectives and career pathways in freight forwarding."
In recognition of their achievement, the gold-winning team had the unique opportunity to moderate a session titled "Fostering Collaboration for the Future of Freight Forwarding" during the 2025 FIATA HQ Meeting. GSCC President Mr Chung Tam highlighted the impact of the experience:
"Through their participation in the FIATA HQ Meeting and educational site visits, the students gained a much deeper appreciation for the diverse and exciting career paths in the global supply chain industry. This was a life-changing experience that they will not soon forget!"
The winning teams were officially recognised and awarded during FIATA’s HQ Meeting in Geneva, where they had the opportunity to present their ideas, engage with industry leaders, and showcase their innovative solutions to a global audience.
