FIATA Events: VCCI and the Vietnamese Community Mobilised for Logistics and the 2025 FWC

As part of the final audit for 2025 FIATA World Congress (FWC), FIATA actively supported its Association Member, the Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), in its promotional efforts for the 2025 FWC, which will take place in Hanoi from 6 to 10 October 2025. By meeting with key stakeholders such as the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham), the discussions highlighted the importance and opportunities of the Vietnamese logistics markets for the participants of the 2025 FWC.

In 2024, Vietnam’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 7.09%, with an ambitious target of 8% growth set for 2025. Over the next year, the country aims to achieve sustainable growth exceeding 10%, with logistics playing a critical role in this expansion. The logistics industry contributes 17% to Vietnam’s GDP and accounts for 25% of GDP growth. There are over 30,000 logistics companies operating in Vietnam, including 9,000 based in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) is prioritising the development of the logistics sector to strengthen both the business community and national economic strategy. The 2025 FWC is seen as a pivotal opportunity to foster international cooperation, marking a key milestone in this development. Vietnam is also seeking Foreign Direct Investment alongside public-private partnerships to achieve its ambitious growth targets.

Beyond investment, there is a growing emphasis on enhanced training and professional development in Vietnam to support the growth of the logistics sector, where collaboration with FIATA and VLA is essential. Additionally, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly seen as a key tool for reducing logistics costs, particularly as administrative expenses have a significant impact on the sector. AI and automation are expected to streamline customs procedures, which are often regarded as both lengthy and costly aspects of logistics operations.

With its recognised expertise in digitalisation and its role as an advisory member of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Digital Standards Initiative (DSI), FIATA is expected to support Vietnam’s digital transformation, with initiatives such as the digital Negotiable FIATA Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (eFBL), and contribute to the development of a more sustainable logistics industry.

VCCI Vice President Vo Tan Thanh assured FIATA Director General, Dr Stéphane Graber, and Ms Cindy Vo, VLA Vice President, of VCCI’s full support in ensuring the success of the 2025 FWC. He emphasised that this event would serve as a crucial platform to strengthen collaboration between VCCI, VLA, and FIATA in driving digital and sustainable transformation within Vietnam’s logistics sector and achieving the ambitious growth objectives set for the year to come.

FIATA Events: FIATA Supports VLA Promotional Roadshow for the 2025 FWC

The promotional tour also included a visit to European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Ho Chi Minh City, where FIATA’s Director General, Dr Stéphane Graber, introduced FIATA’s activities, emphasising FIATA's alignment with the Congress themes and Vietnam’s national priorities set by the Prime Minister. He invited EuroCham to mobilise its community to participate in this exclusive event and support VLA in its promotional efforts. A key focus was placed on expanding the promotional outreach beyond EuroCham’s logistics and transport members to also engage shippers and other critical stakeholders in the logistics sector.

Paul Koah, Chair of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), presented the 2025 FWC, underscoring that "hosting such a prestigious global logistics event in Vietnam is a rare opportunity, unlikely to return for at least 20 years". He encouraged EuroCham to play an active role in contributing to the success of this landmark event. He also reiterated the strong support of the Vietnamese Prime Minister, Mr Pham Minh Chinh, who has already met with two FIATA Presidents, twice with the FIATA Director General, has made the development of the country’s logistics sector a key national priority.

At the conclusion of the discussions, Ms Truong Ngoc Diep, EuroCham’s Advocacy Manager, expressed her appreciation for FIATA’s extensive work in key areas of logistics. She conveyed a strong interest in continuing the dialogue and exploring further synergies between the two organisations. EuroCham is looking forward to participating in 2025 FWC in Hanoi, with its members actively joining the event and engaging in meaningful discussions to advance logistics globally and in Vietnam.

Sustainability: Insights from FIATA-VLA Panel on Decarbonisation and Sustainable Transport

The FIATA-VLA Road Show reached a successful conclusion with a high-impact press conference in Ho Chi Minh City, reinforcing the strong momentum for the 2025 FIATA World Congress (FWC), being held 6-10 October 2025. The event, bringing together over 150 high-level attendees, showcased the outstanding collaboration between FIATA and Vietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA), demonstrating their shared vision for a sustainable and innovative logistics industry in Vietnam.

The event featured a dynamic panel discussion on decarbonisation and green logistics, where FIATA Director General, Dr Stéphane Graber, VLA representatives, and other industry leaders explored strategies for sustainable transport. The discussion emphasised the importance of practical approaches to reducing emissions while ensuring efficiency and growth in logistics. Vietnam’s position as a key trade hub in the region provides significant opportunities to align sustainability efforts with global best practices, enhancing its role in international supply chains.

FIATA outlined the current decarbonisation strategies applied by the various transport modes and emphasised the importance of multimodal solutions to reduce the supply chain's carbon footprint. FIATA also placed a strong emphasis on digital transformation, actively promoting the adoption of the digital  Negotiable FIATA Multimodal Transport Bill of Lading (eFBL) to enhance efficiency, eliminate paper-based processes, and support sustainability efforts. By driving this initiative, FIATA reinforces its commitment to modernising global trade and logistics. The eFBL aligns with Vietnam’s digitalisation strategy, offering a practical solution to streamline operations, cut costs, and improve transparency across supply chains.

Building on the success of the Road Show and the strong industry engagement it has fostered, FIATA and VLA are well-positioned to deliver an outstanding 2025 FIATA World Congress. FIATA looks forward to welcoming participants from around the world to Hanoi, where industrial visionaries and strategic partnerships will shape the future of logistics.

During the Road Show press conference, one of the notable moments was the signing of six sponsorship contracts, marking a major achievement in securing industry support for the 2025 FWC. The sponsors—SAO A DC, OPL Logistics, T&M Forwarding, Primes Holding, INTELOG, and AS E-Carrier—will play a crucial role in supporting the world-class congress, bringing together global logistics leaders to drive forward sustainable supply chains and digital transformation!
